Electric imp based automatic door lock

Marcus built this automatic door lock for his office, which uses the Electric Imp and a RC servo to lock/unlock the door. When we, PinMeTo, moved in to our office at MINC in the beginning of September we only had three keys to four persons and an extra key cost 500 sek so i built an automatic door lock for the door. Maybe cheaper to just buy an extra key but not as fun.

Arduino vocal effects generator

This Arduino-powered vocal effects generator box shifts and distorts incoming audio signals to produce a wide variety of vocal effects. It samples an incoming audio signal from a microphone at 40KHz sampling rate, digitally process the audio, and finally outputs it as an 8-bit audio at 40KHz.

Microchip introduces the PIC16(L)F170X and PIC16(L)F171X family of 8-bit microcontrollers

Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, today announced from EE Live! and the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose the PIC16(L)F170X and PIC16(L)F171X family of 8-bit microcontrollers (MCUs), which combine a rich set of intelligent analog and core independent peripherals, along with cost-effective pricing and eXtreme Low Power (XLP) technology.  Available in 14-, 20-, 28-, and 40/44-pin packages, the 11-member PIC16F170X/171X family of MCUs integrates two Op Amps to drive analog control loops, sensor amplification and basic signal conditioning, while reducing system cost and board space.  These new devices also offer built-in Zero Cross Detect (ZCD) to simplify TRIAC

Step-by-step guide for making a very simple temperature and humidity meter with 7-segment LED displays

In this blog post, I am providing you step by step instructions to build a very simple temperature and relative humidity meter for indoor use. All you need to build this project are an Arduino Uno or compatible board, a DHT11 sensor, and a MAX7219 based 8-digit serial 7-segment LED display. The temperature is displayed in degree Celsius and relative humidity in percentage.

DIY battery backup for your Raspberry Pi

This project is about making a battery backup circuit for Raspberry Pi computer and prevent any abrupt shutdown during power failure. It also allows to safely turn the device off if the main power supply doesn’t come back after a preset time interval (controlled through software). The battery switches to automatic charging mode during the normal operation.
