SubPos

SubPos is an indoor positioning system that can be used in various environments such as metro lines, shopping malls, carparks, art galleries or conference centers, essentially anywhere GPS doesn’t penetrate. SubPos defines an accurate method for subterraneous positioning in different environments by exploiting all the capabilities of Wi-Fi. SubPos Nodes or existing Wi-Fi access points are used to transmit encoded information in a beacon frame that is utilised for position trilateration.

Shower room door sensor

James and his other colleagues often bike to work to stay healthy. The problem is their work place has only one shower stall. So he built this shower room door sensor to provide an at-desk indication of whether the shower room is free or occupied so that he doesn’t have to run to the bathroom to check its status. While there are other similar projects done before, this has a distinguishing feature that it detects the bolt of the door lock, and therefore it is more reliable than just sensing if the door is shut. He used some paper-clips and post-it notes to build the sensor part and Spark Core to read the sensor output and push the occupancy status to a web page.

Zero Plus: An open-source wifi module for IoT applications

Zero Plus is a new open-source wifi module for Internet of Things applications. This project is currently being crowdfunded on Indiegogo. With RT5350 wifi SoC on board, Zero Plus provides a high performance 360 MHz CPU for advanced applications such as Wi-Fi data processing, etc. In addition, the RT5350 offers a variety of hardware interfaces (SPI/I2S/I2C/PCM/UART/USB) to support a range of possible applications.
